Live review: Bambie Thug, Dublin The Academy
It’s Halloween, so who better to party with than Bambie Thug? This time in their home land of Ireland as part of a stretch of sold-out shows, things get silly, steamy and rather spooky…
Watch Bambie Thug’s Eurovision semi-final performance of Doomsday Blue, which has earned Ireland a spot in the Grand Final for the first time since 2018.
It’s official: Bambie Thug has qualified for this weekend’s Eurovision Grand Final, which is taking place at Sweden’s Malmö Arena on Saturday (May 11).
A graphic and gripping semi-final performance last night of the ouija-pop star’s single Doomsday Blue helped them secure the spot and give Ireland their first Grand Final entry in six years.
“I have completely dissociated right now, I’m having an out of body experience!” Bambie told Eurovision of the achievement. “I’m super proud, our team is very small and I’m an independent artist. It’s incredible that we reached here. I’m the first non-binary artist to qualify. See you Saturday.”
And when asked in the Eurovision press conference afterwards “what makes them special”, Bambie replied: “What makes me special? You know what makes me special? I’m queer. I love art. I love drama. I love theatre. I’m gonna give you a show.”
