Live review: Biffy Clyro, London The O2
Biffy Clyro triumph with more than a little love as they hit The O2 in London without bassist James Johnston.
“Edinburgh, we’re coming for you…” Biffy Clyro have announced a massive headline show at the Royal Highland Showgrounds in their home country.
Biffy Clyro have announced a special headline performance at this year’s Edinburgh Summer Sessions.
The likes of The Cure, Florence + The Machine, Lorde and Deftones will all be appearing at the Royal Highland Showgrounds on select dates later this year for the latest instalment of the gig series, and now Biffy are joining that mega list with an appearance on Friday, August 21. Support on the day comes from Nothing But Thieves and Swim School.
“Edinburgh, we’re coming for you…” the band tease. “This is going to be huge, see you in August.” Tickets go on general sale next Friday, January 30 from 10am.
Just last week, we caught Biffy’s spectacular headline date at The O2 in London as part of The Futique Tour. In our review, we noted that, “As arena spectacle goes, it only reinforces what we’ve already known for years now: Biffy do it very well, and very classy, and very creatively.”
K! added, “It can’t overshadow just how intimate and filled with human vitality they can make such a huge stage feel, though. Some of the show’s best moments are in the most stripped-back parts, like the aching, acoustic Machines, played by Simon Neil alone, or when, on a twitching Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies, they simply see red and run on pure adrenaline. The sing-alongs to Black Chandelier, or Bubbles, or Mountains, or the ‘Woo!’ at the start of The Captain are simple joy itself on their own.”
