Heavy metal fans, brace yourselves: Black Sabbath have announced one final gig with Ozzy Osbourne.
The band’s original line-up – completed by Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward – will be hitting Villa Park together on July 5 for a show they’re dubbing Back To The Beginning.
And not only is it their first time playing together in 20 years, but Sabbath will be joined by an unbelievable all-star supporting cast, put together by music director Tom Morello. “This will be the greatest heavy metal show ever,” he promises.
On the day, Back To The Beginning will feature sets from none other than Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Alice In Chains, Halestorm, Lamb Of God, Anthrax and Mastodon. Plus, there’s a supergroup of musicians also playing, including Billy Corgan, David Draiman, Duff McKagan, Frank Bello, Fred Durst, Jonathan Davis, Scott Ian, Sleep Token’s II and more.
“It’s my time to go Back To The Beginning,” says Ozzy of the whole thing. “Time for me to give back to the place where I was born. How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham forever.”
