When Kerrang! caught up with frontman Brendon Urie ahead of Pray For The Wicked's release, the musician revealed how he'd reminisced over his childhood dream of becoming a "rock god" when he was first presented with High Hopes in the studio.
“I heard the hook and it was so catchy to me, and then we thought about doing horns on it, because the production was way different," he explained. "I was like, ‘Man, it would be so cool to do a renaissance medieval band playing these horns triumphantly!’ And then just focusing on the lyrics: I instantly thought of myself at nine years old, making cardboard cutouts of a guitar and putting yarn around it, and standing in front of my mirror and just dreaming of being onstage. Just: ‘Oh my god, I wanna be a rock god!’ That was the dream. That song instantly took me back to that.”
Yep, things clearly turned out pretty well…
