Frank Iero responds to question about new MCR album: “If that stuff were to happen, we will tell you”
“We will tell you in the way we want to tell you…” says Frank Iero, when asked about any potential new My Chemical Romance music.
Frank Iero has shared his plans to stop touring quite as heavily in favour of spending more time with his family.
L.S. Dunes and My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero has expressed his desire to wind down extensive touring.
Speaking on a recent episode of Kerrang! In Conversation, and whether he prefers the live experience or being in the studio, Frank replied, “I think, the older I get, the more I enjoy the record-making process. If it were up to me, I think I would probably do that more often than the touring.
“Also, if I'm being quite honest, I feel like at this age, with touring, I’m probably at my end – it’s coming up soon. On like the extensive touring and stuff like that.”
Acknowledging that the physical toll of being on the road plays a part in this decision, Frank explained that it's more about spending time with his teenage daughters and son.
“I feel like, with my kids coming to a certain age – my daughters are 14 now and my son's gonna be 13 in a little over a month – I can see that end in sight, for having them in the house, you know? When they go off to college and stuff like that. And I think that I'm at the point where I don't I don't need the stage as much as I need the time at home.”
While this sounds quite ominous for those holding out for more Dunes and MCR shows in the coming months and years, Frank didn't clarify a timeframe, and admitted that his friends don't really believe him.
”I floated that in front of people that know me quite well, and they were like, ‘Fuck, yeah, right…’”
