Dimebash – the annual musical tribute to Dimebag Darrell – took place last Thursday (January 24), and it was one of the biggest, craziest jam sessions we've ever seen. Everyone from Nita Strauss to Mike Muir to Corey Taylor to Dave Lombardo came down to celebrate the life of the late Pantera guitarist, kicking off 2019 in true heavy metal style.
But how do you keep a hoard of metalheads well fed? A meat-filled barbecue! And none other than The Nicest Man Rock, Mr Dave Grohl took to the tongs to season and cook all the food because he's such a lovely bloke.
Here he is, prepping the food:
And here he is, admiring his meat.
But Dave isn't the sort of guy to sit idly by as the biggest names in rock pay tribute to one of metal's most beloved guitarists, he gets onstage and jams with his friends! He didn't even have time to take his apron off before launching into Pantera's Walk with Corey Taylor, Scott Ian, Rex Brown, Charlie Benante and Chris Broderick.
Kerrang! was granted exclusive access onstage and backstage to bring you these snaps from the wildest all-star jam of 2019. Can we do it again soon, please?
