Listen To Enter Shikari's New Song, The King

St Albans' finest, Enter Shikari, have just unveiled a brand-new song, The King.

The track follows epic single { The Dreamer's Hotel }, and according to frontman Rou Reynolds, is "about the fervent, rushed desire we as humans often have for revenge.

"It’s almost a lesson in patience and forgiveness," he continues. "Not just lyrically, but also because of how much of a struggle this boisterous track was to make. The fiddly detail in the drum production, the weird guitar tones, the five different choruses I went through before finding the right one! We’re glad we stuck with it and tamed this beast and can’t wait to play it live."

The King is taken from Enter Shikari's new album, Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible, which is due out on April 17 via So Recordings.

Of the new record and how eclectic it will be (if you hadn't already guessed from { The Dreamer's Hotel } and The King), Rou tells Kerrang!: “Well, possibility is the central theme of the album, lyrically, but it also is musically, too. We’ve pushed further and asked ourselves, ‘Where can we go? Let’s fucking go there!’ One track is a symphonic orchestral piece, but then there are other tracks that wouldn’t sound out of place on our first album, [2007’s] Take To The Skies. I think one thing about this album that’s slightly different is that we set out to make something that encapsulates everything that Shikari have done. This album is more broad, and there’s more confidence in the songwriting. Plus, I produced it, so it gave us more attention to detail. There are more hours that have been put into this album than any other – a lot more sweat, toil, and crippling indecision!”

Check out the lyrics below:

I used to be the king
But they took everything
They even stole my crown
I’m gonna track you down

Watch your back my friend
I’m about to kickstart a cycle
Of never ending revenge
And this time it’s primal, it’s tribal

All our drawbridges are up
Is this a wind up?
I used to be a charmer
But now there’s holes in my armour, fuck!

I can’t walk away, I can’t walk away
I got all this pride, all this shame, all this anger to obey
“Well if it’s revenge you seek,
Then be sure to dig two graves”
Why? One for my enemy
And fucking one for you, preferably

I just want to be adored
And I’ll die by my own sword, thanks
I trust no one, as I prowl under the amber streetlamps
All our drawbridges are up
Is this a wind up?
I grab my sword and swing
But I go and pull my hamstring, fuck!
