Meet Possessor And Their "Full Moon Campfire Horror Metal At The Gates Of Hell"

It's October, which means everything's spookier than usual. But London's Possessor (as seen in our recent Children Of Sabbath roundup) laugh in the face of such part time-ness. Keep your Halloween month, theirs is a Halloween life. On their new album Damn The Light, their macabre riffing and bloodthirsty lyrics could turn a summer's day to midnight on October 31. Ahead of its release on October 30 via APF records (Halloween Eve, if you will), they've released a grindhouse-quality video for killer cut Bloodsuckers.

"Time for some full moon campfire horror metal at the gates of Hell," they boast. "We wanted to create a rough and ready no frills video of us at our first rehearsal of 2020, the year that never ceases to be shit."

"Armed with two GoPros, an iPhone, a case of San Miguel and some fancy lights we set about making a tiny rehearsal room look like the gates of hell on Halloween night," they continue. "A totally off the wall experience but an inspiring way to blow off the cobwebs and get back into playing together.All that was a missing was a bunch of undead party goers to mosh with us. Sadly, the government guidelines prevented us from going too overboard."

It's a blinding taster for the album, which is like someone killed the Misfits, buried them, dug up the corpses and made them write new music while listening exclusively to Sabbath. "We like to make music which inspires the listener to scream along to whilst raising the devil horns at the midnight hour," they nod, before adding the most important ingredient: "Party on."
