Dave Grohl joins Saturday Night Live anniversary concert line-up
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl will appear at this month’s SNL50: The Homecoming Concert, which also features everyone from Eddie Vedder to Lady Gaga.

After Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear returned to the stage in January for FireAid, the surviving Nirvana members got back together again this month with none other than Post Malone.
The quartet appeared at SNL50: The Homecoming Concert at New York’s Radio City Music Hall to honour the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live on Valentine’s Day. The show not only included Nirvana – or “Post Nirvana,” as they were introduced by Adam Sandler – but the likes of Lady Gaga, David Byrne, Jack White and Eddie Vedder across a three-hour special, which was livestreamed via Peacock.
Of course, Post Malone’s run-through of Smells Like Teen Spirit with Dave, Krist and Pat isn’t the first time he’s shown his love for the grunge legends: in 2020 he famously raised millions of dollars for charity through his lockdown Nirvana tribute livestream. Dave Grohl went on to reflect how well Post Malone did: “I don’t get to see other people do Nirvana songs often, and he seemed perfectly comfortable with it, and it sounded great… Even the die-hard Nirvana people that I know were, like, ‘Dude, he’s kind of killing it right now.’”
