Earlier this year, Australia was ravaged by wildfires that destroyed thousands of miles of land, claiming the lives of 33 people and an estimated 1 billion wild animals. Donations came pouring in from around the world, with many campaigns and fundraisers set up by bands and artists in the rock community.
Everyone from The Ghost Inside to Bring Me The Horizon to blink-182 joined the relief effort with events and limited merchandise lines donating profits to various charities involved. Aussie natives Parkway Drive also got in on the action, by donating $50,000 and setting up a GoFundMe page for their fans around the world to throw in some cash.
“We have started with a pledge of $50,000 AUD and encourage our fans and metal fans alike to donate what they can, however large or small of an amount, it will all help!” said the band.
“Thank you immensely for supporting these causes in these extreme circumstances.”
