From social media fraudsters to weddings with Satan, here’s what you need to be watching this weekend…
Whether you're spending the weekend with a loved one or flying solo, there's nothing quite like blasting through an entire new TV series instead of doing anything remotely useful with your weekend. Lifting your carcass off the sofa every hour or so to make a cup of tea or shove more crisps into your face, binge-watching is one of the 21st century's great pleasures.
Sometimes in our Screen For Me column we do recommend you go to the cinema, but we went to see Uncharted this week and it's not really worth your time. Instead, we've got four series that span everything from childbirth to battling elves.
If you’re like us, you binge-watched all of Rose Matafeo’s joyous Starstruck series when it hit iPlayer last year. And now, you get to do it all over again as we follow Jessie in her new life as the Actual Proper Girlfriend of a Hollywood movie star, having decided to not up-sticks and move back to New Zealand after all. No, it’s not edgy television, but it’s good wholesome viewing on a weekend, interspersed with some toe-curling awkwardness.

Adam Kay’s hilarious and sometimes harrowing diary from the NHS frontlines has finally made its way onto television, starring the loveable Ben Whishaw (aka the voice of Paddington) as our guide through the trials of being a doctor in obstetrics and gynaecology. While delivering new lives into the world should be a constant source of joy, peek behind the curtain and we find a world of chaos, calamity and comedy, stitched together with stress and never-ending nightshifts. Essential viewing.

Matt Groening’s Medieval animated series returns for its fourth season, which kicks off in style with Princess Bean trapped in Hell and trying to escape an arranged marriage with Satan. Sure. But things somehow taken an even worse turn as elves attempt to take over the castle and Bean’s discovery of an underwater world lead threatens what she thought she knew about Dreamland. It’s just as mad as it sounds and is produced by Josh Weinstein, who was almost definitely involved in your favourite Simpsons episode – so what’s not to like?

Based on a true story, this new limited series shines a light on Anna Delvey, the fraudster who posed as a wealthy socialite to con her way to fame and fortune – not unlike Netflix’s recent documentary The Tinder Swindler. However, this new nine-part show is a dramatisation, starring Julia Garner (Ozark, The Assistant) as in the titular role and Anna Chlumsky (Veep, In The Loop) as Vivian Kent, a journalist trying to untangle who Anna really is. Chock-full of twists and turns, it’s proof that you can fake it ’til you make it if you know how to play the game.
