Sweet Pill have just announced their first-ever trip to the UK
this summer.
Following the release of March’s Starchild EP, the band will
cross the pond in July for nine shows with Suds, following a set at Outbreak Fest
at the end of June. They’ll be heading to Edinburgh, Newcastle, Reading,
Brighton, Ramsgate, Guildford, Cardiff, Southampton and St Albans, with tickets
going on sale March 1 at 10am.
“We’re finally going to the UK!” enthuses vocalist Zayna Youssef. “This
will be the first time Sweet Pill would have hopped a plane to play the big
rock gig. Not only is it my first time stepping foot in the UK, but we’ll be
doing so with one of my new favourite bands SUDS. I couldn’t get enough of
their debut album, The Great Overgrowth. I really wanted to see them live but
wasn’t sure when they’d be crossing the pond. So it is going to be so special
to not only watch them play, but do so in their home country! What makes it the
most special is that we get to share the stage! Very excited to have them join
us in our first UK experience. I will be crowd-killing to freckle every night.
“Sweet Pill is stoked to try new foods like bangers and mash!
Beans on toast! Tea! Feesh n chips – I don’t really like seafood, though,”
Zayna adds. “I also will be on the lookout for local legends like the gulping
Beavo, the ‘aww fuck I can’t believe you’ve done this’ guy, and the entire cast
of the original Skins series. We’ll also be returning the tea that was dumped
in the Boston harbor as a welcoming gift. I also don’t mind the UK version of The
Office. If you see us out and about, let’s be mates!”
Sounds like quite the trip, Zayna! We hope it’s everything you’ve
dreamed of and more.
