1. Motionless In White – Afraid Of The Dark
We'll tell you who we'd put money on not being afraid of the dark: Chris Motionless. Other things the ghoulish Motionless In White frontman hasn't got a problem with: big, In Flames-y metal bangers with fast, melodic guitars, screamy bits, and massive, fest-ready choruses. This new banger from Scranton's spookiest also has a mid-section that's basically a love letter to dancing to NIN in rock clubs. Prepare to shake your arse when they drop it on their UK tour.
2. Dead Pony – Eat My Dust!
Glasgow's Dead Pony say that Eat My Dust! is about "moving on from negative things in your past, bettering yourself and letting the haters choke on your dust cloud as you pass them." Which is all very good advice, were it not for the ’Pony already being very good. Anyway, they have moved somewhere new here, finding them in a much heavier mood, riding on a big, heavy, whip-smart riff that just oozes cool. That'll shut up any neigh-sayers…
3. Marmozets – New York
If Marmozets' comeback single A Kiss From A Mother showed a new side to the Bingley boppers, New York captures a much more familiar, fizzy energy. Aptly, it's about looking for that old energy of when the band first went to the Big Apple, and tapped into its heady frequency.
