Linkin Park, Metallica, Korn, Bad Omens and more for Sonic Temple festival 2025
Sonic Temple is going bigger than ever for 2025 with Metallica, Korn, Linkin Park, Bad Omens, Poppy, Motionless In White and more across four days...
Here's what Metallica played at the opening night of their S&M2 shows
Last night, Metallica played one of the most epic shows of their lives. 20 years after the original S&M album, the thrash legends entered San Francisco's Chase Center with the San Francisco Symphony for another round of orchestral heavy metal. And that setlist is frankly bonkers.
Just like the 1999 S&M performance, the night started with The Ecstasy Of Gold (performed by the San Fran Symphony) rolling into The Call Of Ktulu. And from then it was a mindblowing mix of more recent material and classics that also made their way onto the original Symphony And Metallica setlist. Three tracks from Hardwired... and two from Death Magnetic, sitting alongside No Leaf Clover and For Whom The Bell Tolls. Yes please!

The second half of the night was just as magical. Opening on two covers (originally by Russian composers Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev and Alexander Mosolov), the Chase Center was treated to The Unforgiven III performed by the orchestra with Hetfield on vocals, an acoustic version of St. Anger's All Within My Hands and the outrageous (Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth performed on a double bass by the Symphony.
Here's what you missed last night. It's ridiculous.
