“I’m freaking out!” Linkin Park’s new album From Zero hits Number One in the UK charts
See Mike Shinoda and Emily Armstrong accepting their trophy from the Official Charts to celebrate Linkin Park’s new album From Zero hitting Number One.
Let Heavy Immortal snap your heartstrings one by one.
Usually, mash-ups are supposed to be funny. The whole point of bringing two tracks together is to show off their dichotomy; combining the Beegees with, say, Cannibal Corpse is hilarious because the one is brutal and scary, and the other isn't. But sometimes, combining two tracks shows brings together what each one does well, and creates something new and kind of beautiful. Such is the case with Heavy Immortal, this new mash-up between Evanescence and Linkin Park.
The track -- a combination of Evanescence's My Immortal and Linkin Park's Heavy by YouTuber Grave Danger -- isn't your typical mix track, in that it's not about showcasing differences. Instead, it shows just how perfectly the backing piano of the former song fits the vocal melodies and rhythms of the second. Even more powerful is how the two feature a similar emotional resonance, both delving into heartbreak of different kinds while seeming to share one soul.

It should be noted that this isn't Grave Danger's first rodeo, either. Earlier this year, the YouTuber combined Katy Perry and My Chemical Romance, with a similar level of heartfelt power. Listen to that mash-up below:
Not quite Slipknot and the Spice Girls, is it?
