7D7D have just announced a nine-date European and UK headline tour.
The new(ish) LA band – comprised of Rage Against The Machine bassist
Tim Commerford, plus drummer Mathias Wakrat and guitarist Jonny Polonsky
– will be making their live debut on this side of the pond in October and
November.
“We’ve been recording music for the last two or three years via
email, but since my move from NYC to LA in January, we’ve been practicing
pretty steadily,” explains Jonny. “It feels really thrilling to be finally getting
out there performing live for the people.”
“7D7D is a trio thats changed the way I feel and enjoy music,”
enthuses Tim. “Whether is the crazy drum patterns or next level guitar beauty,
I feel lucky to be a part of this band. It’s been life-changing for me. I know
that if I walked up on 7D7D somewhere I wouldn’t leave.”
These live shows follow the January news that Rage won’t be
playing live anymore. At the start of 2024, drummer Brad Wilk posted that, “I know a lot of people are waiting for us
to announce new tour dates for all the cancelled RATM shows. I don’t want to
string people or myself along further. So while there has been some
communication that this may be happening in the future… I want to let you know
that RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom and I) will not be touring or playing live again. I’m
sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish
it was…”
As for 7D7D, though, a press
release promises that: ‘The band plan to continue to record and release new music, one
single at a time – stay tuned!’
