Why hyperpop owes its existence to heavy metal
Hyperpop is on the rise – and it’s thanks, in large part, to metal subgenres like nu-metal, crunkcore and metalcore…
The Vans Warped Tour will hit Washington, D.C., Florida and California next year with ‘70 to 100 bands’ as the iconic travelling fest celebrates its 30th anniversary.
Vans Warped Tour is (sort of) back!
It has been revealed that the legendary North American travelling festival – which concluded in its usual format back 2018 – will return next year to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
This ‘three-city tour’, as it’s being dubbed, will stop off in Washington, D.C., Florida and California, bringing ‘70 to 100 bands’ on the line-up across two days per city, with the express aim to ‘foster the future generation of artists’, which sounds awesome. As always, they promise ‘a wide range of genres including but not limited to rock, punk rock, alternative, pop punk, emo’ and more, with a mixture of Warped favourites and a ‘diverse line-up of newer acts’.
“People are craving connection, live music, and the raw, unfiltered experience that Warped has always offered,” says Warped founder Kevin Lyman. “We’ve seen how music continues to unite and inspire, and this return isn’t just about nostalgia – it’s about giving a new generation the chance to feel that same sense of belonging and freedom that Warped has always championed. Insomniac is a company I’ve always admired, so when the opportunity to collaborate arose, I couldn’t say no. I thought, ‘Why the hell not?’ Let’s dive in and make this happen!”
“It’s very exciting to partner with Kevin to bring Warped Tour back,” continues Pasquale Rotella, the founder of Insomniac. “He’s built an incredible legacy that celebrates the heart of live music and we’re energised to create a rad festival that honours the spirit of Warped Tour. We both prioritise culture and community and focus on keeping the fan experience at the forefront which is why this partnership feels so natural.”
Pre-sale tickets begin on October 24 from 9am PT / 12pm ET.
