“I’m freaking out!” Linkin Park’s new album From Zero hits Number One in the UK charts
See Mike Shinoda and Emily Armstrong accepting their trophy from the Official Charts to celebrate Linkin Park’s new album From Zero hitting Number One.
To mark this year's International Women's Day, we are launching a new video series to shine a light on the women who make the rock and metal scene what it is: from festival bookers to record producers to venue owners.
International Women’s Day – which is celebrated this coming Monday, March 8 – has long been established as one of the most important days in the calendar; an essential marker to celebrate the achievements of women and continue the shaping of a more gender-equal world for the future.
As part of a scene and industry that is historically heavily male-dominated, we here at Kerrang! have long been proud to support its positive message of change, and 2021 will be no different.
This year’s IWD theme is ‘Choose To Challenge’, and starting on Monday, we are once again proud to bring a series of personal essays penned by the likes of Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation), Courtney LaPlante (Spiritbox), Edith Johnson (Meet Me @ The Altar) and more, each of whom have elected to interpret the ‘Choose To Challenge’ message through their own unique perspectives.
Previously, artists such as Melissa Auf Der Maur, Alissa White-Gluz and Ashley Costello have delivered hugely compelling Kerrang! editorials – which are all available to read now.
Additionally, we are excited to unveil our new We Run The Scene series. Starting this coming Monday, we will be shining a daily spotlight on the influential women that form the backbone of the rock and metal scenes, via short films and in-depth interview features.
Says Sam Coare, Kerrang! editor: “From festival bosses to managers of global megastars, via record producers, label chiefs and venue owners, our We Run The Scene series seeks to inspire and educate through celebrating the achievements of the women without whom the world of music simply would not operate. The impact and importance of women in rock extends far beyond the stage, and through We Run The Scene, we’re proud to champion the often unsung accomplishments that underpin our world.”
We Run The Scene launches on Monday with a profile of Bloodstock’s Vicky Hungerford, and continues daily all week.
