Apple has unveiled their newest headphones, the AirPods pro, which now finally come with a noise-cancellation function -- a fancy way of saying, “Everything around you will cease to exist when you put these things in your ears.”
According to Apple, “AirPods Pro have been designed to deliver Active Noise Cancellation for immersive sound, Transparency mode so you can hear your surroundings, and a customizable fit for all-day comfort....Incredibly light noise-cancelling headphones, AirPods Pro block out your environment so you can focus on what you’re listening to. AirPods Pro use two microphones, an outward-facing microphone and an inward-facing microphone, to create superior noise cancellation. By continuously adapting to the geometry of your ear and the fit of the ear tips, Active Noise Cancellation silences the world to keep you fully tuned in to your music, podcasts, and calls.”

The AirPods Pro will set you back a whopping £193 ($249)...but we reckon they’re worth it if you’re looking to drown out the sounds of the subway, people chewing around you in a food establishment, or if you work in an open-office floorplan surrounded by every sound your colleagues make...much like we do here at Kerrang!. And it’s probably a lot healthier to use a noise-cancellation function to drown out the outside world than it is to crank Reign In Blood at full volume every time you hear a baby cry...but we’ll have to investigate more to know for sure.
One of the even cooler functions, however, is Audio Sharing. In Apple’s words, this function makes it so “you and a friend can share the same audio stream on two sets of AirPods — so you can play a game, watch a movie, or listen to a song together.”
They’re available to order now on Apple’s website, but they’ll also hit stores on Wednesday, October 30.
Now if they only came with a loss-protection plan, we’d be completely on board.
