BMTH, Amy Lee, BABYMETAL and more reflect on what the pandemic has taught them

In keeping with the state-of-the-world themes and messages in Bring Me The Horizon's recent Post Human: Survival Horror EP, the band have recruited the artists they collaborated with on the record to open up about what the coronavirus pandemic has taught them this year.

Kicking off a video titled Epilogue (following the Post Human mini documentary and making of all the individual songs) frontman Oli Sykes reveals a whole new perspective on the way both he and Horizon will approach various things in life – both personally and professionally.

“I think the number one thing I’ll take away from the pandemic is the fact that we were doing a lot of shit wrong before – even on a personal everyday level it’s like driving 40 minutes to a gym when you can just go for a run outside, or the business man who takes the flight for four hours just to have a 10-minute fucking conversation when you could have done it on Zoom or whatever,” he says.

“We were doing so much stuff the long way round. Even with us writing, we were spending so much money and resources flying to LA or just doing stuff that felt like the necessary thing to do, and then we’ve just created a record in our bedrooms.”

Horizon bandmate Jordan Fish adds that he appreciates not having to go on “massive” holidays and the joys of being closer to home these days, while guitarist Lee Malia reflects on how some people can work remotely more often now, and it means plenty of quality time spent with family and loved ones.

Elsewhere Evanescence's Amy Lee states, “Our planet, our world, is precious, and it is suffering. We need to come together, we need to unify,” while Nova Twins discuss the vital Black Lives Matter movement in the summer and also how the pandemic has changed the way we communicate with each other. Later in the video, BABYMETAL chat about how much they can't wait to tour again, finding new appreciation for being able to travel and see fans after cancelled shows this year.

YUNGBLUD, meanwhile, ponders: “I think before the pandemic people would look at you funny if you asked for a second to think. And I think this pandemic has given us so much to think about; it’s given us a lot to think about in terms of humanity, in terms of racial inequality, oppression against the LGBTQIA+ community, against climate change denial. I think it’s lit a fire in our bellies to make sure that every single one of us is equal. When this pandemic is over, let’s not go back to the way we were. Let’s push forward, and let’s be united, and let’s fight for a better world, man.”
