Organisers of Coachella have announced that they have postponed the California festival until October.
Following yesterday's rumours that Coachella could be cancelled due to coronavirus, it has now been announced that the festival will be postponed until October.
Organisers of the huge California event – which is currently scheduled to take place over the weekends of April 10-12 and April 17-19 – have announced that the festival, as well as the Stagecoach Music Festival, will be moved until this October, according to Rolling Stone. With a recently confirmed case of coronavirus in the local area, not to mention the fact that festivals like SXSW have also pulled the plug due to the health and travel concerns related with this global outbreak, Coachella has decided to follow other large events and reschedule their gathering.
“At the direction of the County of Riverside and local health authorities, we must sadly confirm the rescheduling of Coachella and Stagecoach due to COVID-19 concerns," announced Goldenvoice, the AEG subsidiary that organize the festival, in a statement. "While this decision comes at a time of universal uncertainty, we take the safety and health of our guests, staff and community very seriously. We urge everyone to follow the guidelines and protocols put forth by public health officials.”
“Coachella will now take place on October 9, 10 and 11 and October 16, 17 and 18, 2020,” Goldenvoice declared in its statement. “Stagecoach will take place on October 23, 24 and 25, 2020. All purchases for the April dates will be honored for the rescheduled October dates. Purchasers will be notified by Friday, March 13 on how to obtain a refund if they are unable to attend. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you in the desert this fall.”

Whether all of the artists scheduled to play Coachella -- including reunited Rage Against The Machine, Frank Ocean and Travis Scott, IDLES, Code Orange, YUNGBLUD, The Regrettes, PUP and King Gizzard & The Wizard Lizard -- will still play the postponed festival remains to be seen.
