Watch Deftones’ Chino Moreno join Smashing Pumpkins onstage
Deftones frontman Chino Moreno hopped up for a run through of Pumpkins’ classic Jellybelly.
According to a series of social media posts by Grand Rapids, MI, band A Grave Next Door, former Smashing Pumpklins bassist D'arcy Wretzky has joined their ranks.
On the cover of K! 1747, featuring alt-rock giants The Smashing Pumpkins including classic guitarist James Iha, one member fans might notice is notably missing is bassist D'arcy Wretzky. Even as the band has repeatedly hinted at a classic line-up reunion, D'arcy has always remained the one member who has never gone in on the reunion. Now, though a series of social media posts, it appears to have been revealed that D'arcy is now playing with a doom metal band from Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The band's name is A Grave Next Door, and last week they posted the following posts to their Facebook:
It's worth mentioning that none of the band's posts include pictures of D'arcy, though the angler fish in the above photo does appear to be the same one that shows up at the 3:18 mark of the Tonight, Tonight music video.
What D'arcy's involvement with the band is -- whether she's a full-time member, a guest musician, or in some other role like manager or producer -- remains to be seen.
Early last year, when a reunion line-up of the Pumpkins was seemingly announced, D'arcy made a statement saying, "“My apologies to all of the Smashing Pumpkins fans out there who are excited about this oncoming reunion tour of the original members of the band...I know this is a huge disappointment for me, as well, but it’s not going to happen [with me]...Ionly just found [out] yesterday that the band has decided to go with a different bass player.”
It should also be noted that in previously recorder instances of the original line-up getting back together, D'arcy is consistently not present.
