The Kerrang! Chart: The best new music this week
The ultimate new music countdown – every Friday!
"Recognise and celebrate our culture!" enthuses Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach of the band's GRAMMY nomination.
Following the revealing of yesterday's GRAMMYs shortlist, Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach has taken to social media to reflect about the band's latest nomination – their third in total.
The Massachusetts titans are up for a gong in the Best Metal Performance category for this year's Unleashed single, finding themselves up against the stellar competition of Candlemass, Death Angel, I Prevail and Tool.
“Not a terrible way to wake up this morning!" says Jesse. "Thanks @recordingacademy for your consideration. If you would’ve told me as a young punk I’d be nominated for a Grammy never mind 2 of them, I would have laughed all up in your face! Guess you just never know who’s paying attention to your hard work and music. Regardless of who wins it’s all about Metal bands being recognized for the amazing music that comes from our scene! Recognize and celebrate our culture! Cheers and all Hails!"
Hear, hear.

Previously Jesse has been nominated for Killswitch's In Due Time, while the band's smash 2004 single The End Of Heartache (featuring former vocalist Howard Jones) was also up for Best Metal Performance. Both ultimately lost out – to Black Sabbath and Motörhead respectively.
