See Billie Joe Armstrong perform with The Go-Go’s at Coachella
Watch official footage of Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong joining a reunited The Go-Go’s onstage at Coachella to perform Head Over Heels.
Green Day headlined Coachella for the first time on Saturday night – here’s everything the punk rock legends performed…
Fresh from frontman Billie Joe Armstrong’s surprise appearance with The Go-Go’s the day prior, Green Day headlined Coachella for the first time ever on Saturday, April 12.
As they always do, the band made a massive impact with their 18-song performance on the Coachella Stage between 9:05pm – 10:45pm, kicking things off with American Idiot and wrapping up with Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life), during which they were joined by a fan on guitar.
Naturally with those set times they couldn’t play all of Dookie and American Idiot in full, as they have been doing on The Saviors Tour over the past year, but they did still play plenty from those two records: Holiday, Boulevard Of Broken Dreams, Longview, Welcome To Paradise, St. Jimmy, Basket Case, When I Come Around, Wake Me Up When September Ends and Jesus Of Suburbia – complete with the changed lyrics, ‘Running away from pain like the kids from Palestine’.
Elsewhere, the career-spanning performance included One Eyed Bastard and Bobby Sox from 2024’s Saviors album, plus even more bangers like Know Your Enemy and Hitchin’ A Ride.
“Our first time at @Coachella and it did not disappoint!!” Green Day posted afterwards. “Thank you for bringing the HEAT out there in the desert. Let’s do it all over again next weekend, yeah?!”
Indeed, Green Day will headline Coachella’s second weekend at the exact same time on Saturday, April 20 – and we can probably presume they’ll be mixing up the setlist for that one, so keep your eyed peeled…
Check out the full setlist from Coachella weekend one:
