There’s seemingly a grunge fan working in the music department for The Last Of Us: after Pearl Jam soundtracked September’s first season two trailer, you can now hear Nirvana in a brand-new look at the show.

The second season of the HBO smash is set to arrive on April 13 via Max, and with just over one month to go now, a new two-minute trailer reveals some of the drama to come. Fittingly, over the top of scenes including Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey), you can hear a version of Nirvana’s You Know You’re Right – which is the final song they ever recorded before Kurt Cobain’s death in 1994.

And fans in the comments are picking up on these music choices, too – as @Helena-jeje writes on YouTube: “I like Kurt Cobain’s vocals over the destroyed and war-torn Seattle reveal. Such a nice touch considering that was where Nirvana and grunge came from.”

Meanwhile @opxxi_2197 says the song “gave me goosebumps”, and @cooperbroggel5147 enthuses, “So glad I wasn’t the only one to pick up on You Know You’re Right by Nirvana, so weird that we don’t get their music much anymore in popular media, even though they are evergreen. So excited for this season, the first was a knockout.”

“I never expected them to use this Nirvana song,” comments @adamherrick6077. “I’m blown away – beyond that, by the emotion and content being suggested. This is going to be a ride.”
