After revealing day/stage splits in February, Download Festival are ramping up the excitement this month with a sneaky teaser in their latest newsletter.

The fest’s Download Family inner circle email has intriguingly confirmed that Donington Park will host “multiple secret sets” this coming June, with fans on Reddit already making their predictions and wishes.

Last year, of course, festival-goers were treated to a surprise set from Parkway Drive on The Dogtooth Stage – in our review, we wrote that, “Looking every bit like a man who hasn’t spent the past four days slumming it in the mud, the dictionary definition of charisma Winston McCall strolls out in a Persil-white tank top and a grin so wide it threatens the integrity of his cheeks. He knows, as much as ever-growing horde does, the next 30 minutes are going down in Donington history.”

One of the most memorable secret sets happened back in 2003, when Metallica – or ‘NOTALLICA’, as was listed backstage – arrived around the release of that year’s St. Anger. “Word got around the site quickly,” Kerrang! reflected of the legendary moment, “with an estimated 8,000 fans cramming themselves into the tent, leaving many more unable to catch a glimpse of the new line-up (featuring Robert Trujillo on bass) in action.”

So… who are we going to see pop up in 2025, and where?!
